Hayat Uzun, originally from Giresun, lives in Istanbul with her two friends, Aslı and İpek. Her mother, Emine, arrives alongside her sister, Fadik (also the landlord of Hayat’s and her friends’ house) with a warning from Hayat’s father, who is in the army; she tells Hayat that she must be securely employed, otherwise her father will take her back to Giresun. On her way to a job interview for Sarte, a multi-national textile company headed by Nejat Sarsılmaz, Hayat encounters and insults a man who is amused by her naivety.
During her interview, she is mistaken as Suna Pektas, to whom the job is promised, as she is the daughter of Nejat’s close friend Kemal. Hayat does not clear this misunderstanding in her desperation for the job, which is to be the assistant of Nejat’s son’s personal assistant Cağla. She then discovers that the man she earlier insulted was Murat Sarsılmaz, Nejat’s eldest son and the heir to Sarte.
Everyone, including Murat, remains oblivious of Hayat’s true identity; she and İpek manage to convince the real Suna to keep quiet. Despite their constant arguing, Murat and Hayat begin to fall in love. This irks Didem, who works as the company’s lead model, has feelings for Murat, and is his ex-girlfriend. She begins to realize that Hayat is assuming a fake identity. Murat is also suspicious, and feels jealous seeing his younger brother, Doruk, and later Didem’s friend Cenk, flirting with Hayat. Cenk attempts to create misunderstandings between Murat and Hayat, leading Murat to believe that Hayat does not love him. Didem purposely cuts the power to Sarte’s elevator, causing Hayat to suffer from a panic attack and faint from her claustrophobia. Murat rescues her and brings her to his house, where the two spend time and bond while she heals. While Hayat is drunk, Murat confesses that he likes her, but because Hayat is drunk, she doesn’t remember this until later.
The next morning, Didem arrives, and claims that she is pregnant with Murat’s child, after which Hayat breaks her relationship with him. Murat gets suspicious about Didem, so he asks Doruk to test Didem’s pregnancy in a hospital. The report comes positive. Despite being heartbroken, Murat decides to marry Didem to fulfil his responsibility to the child. Didem’s family and Murat’s family meet each other, and their wedding gets finalized. Hayat decides to get over Murat. But in reality, Didem is pretending: she isn’t pregnant at all. Derya, Murat’s stepmother, finds out, and tells Didem to fake her abortion before things get out of hand. Murat gets very upset when he hears the abortion news, because he was mentally prepared for the baby. Asli, Hayat’s best friend, and a nurse by profession, tells Hayat that Didem has been pretending, because Asli saw hormone tablets in Didem’s bag. However, they can’t prove this.
Murat is free at last. Hayat and her best friends, Ipek and Asli, plan to make Murat suffer a bit. Hayat convinces Ibrahim to help her make Murat jealous. Murat is jealous at first, but then he understands Hayat’s trickery. He plans to confess to her on her birthday. So Tuval, the head designer (also a good friend of Murat and Hayat), Doruk, Kerem (Murat’s chauffeur and Ipek’s lover), Ipek, Asli, Hayat and Murat all go to a beautiful place to celebrate Hayat’s birthday. After cutting the cake, Murat takes Hayat outside on the beach, and tells her that this is the place where his mother died saving him. He then gives her his mother’s necklace, and then the two kiss. He welcomes Hayat to his life. After that, everything gets very colorful in their life, and they bond stronger than ever. Hayat gets very upset, though, because she is hiding her identity from him. Murat takes Hayat to an empty auditorium and proposes to her with a ring. Hayat accepts, but is sectretly tense. In the meantime, Murat’s stepmother learns Hayat’s real identity, and confronts Murat. Murat is heartbroken, and removes Hayat from her job and his life.
Hayat’s family learns about the lie Hayat has told to get the job, and her grandfather, Hasmet Uzun decides to get Hayat back to Giresun and get her married. But Murat comes back for her, confronts Hasmet, and stops him from taking her back to Giresun by telling he wants to marry Hayat. Hasmet agrees and takes her back to Istanbul, where Hasmet asks Murat to introduce his family. When Hayat and Murat’s families are together for dinner, Hasmet and Azime (Murat’s grandmother) see each other, which reminds them of their history: Hasmet loved Azime, but for unspecified reasons, they couldn’t get married. Now, Hasmet decides not to give Hayat’s hand to Murat, because of the dark history between him and Azime. Hasmet and Azime have a fight, and both families leaves the table. Murat tries asking Azime exactly what happened between them, but Azime refuses to say anything. She tells them that Hayat and Murat cannot marry each other, but Murat denys this, saying that the problem is between Hasmet and Azime, and has nothing to do with Hayat and Murat. After this, he tries to convince Hasmet to give him Hayat’s hand in marriage, but Hasmet forces him to fulfill some conditions first. While Murat is fulfilling the conditions, Hasmet gets angry, and puts him in jail, stating that Murat is annoying Hayat. Later, Murat gets a bail, and both Hayat and Murat decide to escape.
